Grateful list:
Tuesday: I didn't strangle the guy who came to class with a terrible cold and didn't know how to use kleenex...
Wednesday: I didn't get sick one day later
Thursday: Getting to watch Ellen on days when I stay home sick
Friday: Being better enough to go to work
Saturday: A short run with Paul, even if I did horrible
Sunday: I kept going even though I wanted to die...
Monday: Talking to new people
Well, it is officially over. Beth, Kristin, and I all finished the Big House Big Heart 5k. Our time was about 34 minutes. I think this was pretty good, considering the fact that we were all injured/sick/out of practice due to school stuff. You can see the results here.
Last week I got really sick on Tuesday night and spent two days on the couch with a fever oscillating between 101 and 102.5F. It was not a fun time. On Thursday I was convinced there was no way I could run the race, but I felt a little better Friday and was able to go to work. Saturday, Paul and I went for a practice run and my mile time was 12:50. This was not a good sign. I think I probably should not have tried to run on Sunday, considering how I was feeling, but it just seemed like it would be such a disappointment after all the training I did. Our time of 34 minutes was almost 3 minutes slower than my record, but I am just happy I finished. There is another 5k at the end of October that we are considering running in. Hopefully then we will be back up to speed.
Suffice it to say I was not embarrassed during this race. I logged 62.3 miles of training, and I am happy that I made it through. Pictures of the race are forthcoming...
